Investigating the possibilities of designing, improving, and creatively using materials for more sustainable design practices.
ABOUT THE LAB
The Material Innovation and Sustainability Lab is dedicated to the study and development of materials for Design with strong awareness in sustainability. We improve upon existing materials, and sometimes design new materials, to match design and product’s requirements. The lab also studies other design-related applications that may require new and innovative use of materials. Our use of materials, as well as our design processes, are driven by our belief in sustainability concepts.

The MIS Lab can help you discover new potentialities within your materials and manufacturing processes. We can help you realize unexpected designs that are commercially viable as well as sustainable. Prof. Pattarapol Chantkam, who leads the MIS Lab and is one of Thailand’s leading experts in the field of materials for design and sustainability, brings great insights and resources to the lab as he is well connected to several industries and laboratories for material experimentations.
Coaching & Training
We provide coaching & training services in Human Centered Design, Design Thinking, and New Product Development methodologies.
We conduct research on materials for design from many angles as well as exploring knowledge in material sciences and engineering.
We conduct workshops for institutions, companies, and industries who share the same goals and objectives as ours.
We give consultations on material and sustainable design related issues.
Micro-Credentials (Mini Course)
We organize short courses (8-12 weeks) on the contexts of design, materials, and sustainability.
